The homebre...Yeah, it is tough on a homebrew scale. The homebrew barrel project we did before took a lot of pre-planning and we brewed it all together, which was fun. It is a lot of work, but hopefully the beer will make it all worth it.

And going as a solera now will be easier on the brewing for sure. Are you thinking to change to base wort you add each time or keeping it about the same?Jeffrey Cranehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01520169652639837640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276581264737472765.post-28215774967279839712014-06-30T09:37:51.204-07:002014-06-30T09:37:51.204-07:00Yeah, we'll see. I try to avoid transferring as much as possible.

The grant is between the mash tun and the boil kettle. It is mostly used in big systems that would have to use strong pumps to transfer the wort. So instead of those pumps "pulling" the wort, the grant is filled by gravity and then wort is "pulled" by the pump. It is mostly used to prevent stuck mashes from compaction. It also has the advantage of doing a slight whirlpool that keeps even more particulate out of the boil. Why don't you just come out here and I'll show you.Jeffrey Cranehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01520169652639837640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276581264737472765.post-54190763955692466412014-06-30T09:32:30.332-07:002014-06-30T09:32:30.332-07:00For sure, the thought was that it would be "d...For sure, the thought was that it would be "done" by end of July or maybe August. The one sample so far already has enough wine character, but I looking to get some more oak character from it. We just added some med + french oak last month.Jeffrey Cranehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01520169652639837640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276581264737472765.post-40560875223754491692014-06-30T09:28:36.234-07:002014-06-30T09:28:36.234-07:00Let me know when you have some free time (probably...Let me know when you have some free time (probably easiest before the baby gets here). I like your barreling strategy; curious to hear if it keeps working well for you that way.

The system I brewed on was a Stout Tank system, but it looks like it was laid out a bit differently. The Bacchus system doesn't use a grant tank, and I'm still actually a bit confused as to how that fits in.Bear Flavoredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16217501752031139256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-276581264737472765.post-28317598558128892362014-06-28T03:01:26.502-07:002014-06-28T03:01:26.502-07:00Nice write-up.
